The course ‘Arabic for Biz Purposes’ is a ten-way communication skills course for native English speakers, mainly in business, who work in the international environment and want to communicate through the medium of the Arabic Language.

Of course, it is ideal that the British businessperson conducts business in a second language. An increasing number of British business people can do so. Especially in exciting new markets such as in the Middle East which demand unusual language skills. The British businessperson who has to work in Arabic will have to adapt.
But does everyone else have to speak Arabic? It's true that almost anyone who works and lives in Arab States speaks Arabic or cannot and it's obvious it doesn't really matter if we can't speak Arabic. We can just speak Arabic with them.
People using Arabic as a second language often find it far easier to understand each other than to understand us. Putting it bluntly, we are often not very good at communicating with Arabs. We're just too good at the language. We don't know what things are difficult for Non-Arabs to understand. Do we speak over their heads, often using over-complex language full of incomprehensible cultural references.
The result can be real failures of communication. Failures to perform effectively in meetings and negotiations. Failures to create the personal relationships which are so important.
